# Inventory, manufacturing, marketplace, and add-ons

> Screenshots use representative demo data captured from a live environment. Manufacturing is a marketplace add-on and appears only when enabled. Never use real records, secrets, or private packages in a public demo.

A walkthrough of operations: inventory products, categories, warehouses and low-stock control, basic manufacturing with BOMs and work orders, and the signed marketplace add-on model.

## How operations fit together

**Inventory** holds what you stock — products, categories, warehouses, and a low-stock view. **Manufacturing** (an add-on) turns components into finished goods via BOMs and work orders. The **Marketplace** grows the product through signed add-ons. Stock movements from Purchase receipts, Sales fulfilment, and manufacturing flow through Inventory and post into Accounting.

## Inventory — stock visibility and control

Set up **Categories** and **Warehouses** first, then create **Products**; use **Low Stock** as the daily exception list. Advanced inventory is the inventory-advanced add-on under *Advanced Features*.

| Screen | Purpose | Image |
|---|---|---|
| Inventory home | Operational view | ![Inventory](assets/screenshots/web/inventory.png) |
| Products | Catalogue with levels | ![Products](assets/screenshots/web/inventory-products.png) |
| Categories | Group products (set up first) | ![Categories](assets/screenshots/web/inventory-categories.png) |
| Warehouses | Locations stock is held in | ![Warehouses](assets/screenshots/web/inventory-warehouses.png) |
| Low Stock | Items at/below reorder point | ![Low Stock](assets/screenshots/web/inventory-low-stock.png) |

**Wisely.** Establish categories/warehouses before loading products. Set realistic reorder points so Low Stock is a true action list. Reconcile physical counts periodically.

## Manufacturing — BOMs and work orders (add-on)

A **BOM** defines the components of a finished product; a **work order** executes a build, consuming components and producing output (keeping Inventory and the ledger in step).

| Screen | Purpose | Image |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturing home | Production hub | ![Manufacturing](assets/screenshots/web/manufacturing.png) |
| BOMs | Component recipe | ![BOMs](assets/screenshots/web/manufacturing-boms.png) |
| Work Orders | Execute a build | ![Work Orders](assets/screenshots/web/manufacturing-workorders.png) |

> **Availability:** Manufacturing is a marketplace add-on. When not enabled, its routes are gated and redirect to the marketplace — expected behaviour. Screenshots were captured while it was enabled.

**Wisely.** Keep BOMs accurate (they drive consumption and cost). Raise work orders rather than manually adjusting stock for builds.

## Marketplace and the add-on model

The **Catalog** lists available, signed add-ons; **Installed** shows what is present with versions, status, and license/uninstall actions. Add-ons are *signed* (unsigned modules will not load) and declare dependencies so install/enable order is resolved. Advanced features for core modules are delivered this way. Entitlement and seats are then managed under *Settings → Module Access*.

| Screen | Purpose | Image |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog | Browse available add-ons | ![Catalog](assets/screenshots/web/marketplace-catalog.png) |
| Installed | Manage installed modules; enable per org | ![Installed](assets/screenshots/web/marketplace-installed.png) |

**Wisely.** Install only what a customer will use. Lean on signing and dependency resolution as a trust story. A route redirecting to the marketplace is the entitlement system working — enable the module via Module Access.
